PROVIDENCE, R.I --The Lady Friar softball team split with Villanova this afternoon, 4-2 and 5-4 in BIG EAST action.

PC led the game after the first and the fourth innings, but Villanova rallied to knot the game in the top of fifth inning at 2-2. The tied ball game carried over until the bottom of the ninth when freshman Kerri Jacklets connected on a two-run home run to win the game, 4-2, for the Friars. Freshman Robyn West pitched a complete game for the win

In the second game, Providence took a 2-0 lead when Jacklets hit her second home run of the afternoon in the bottom of the first. The Friars scored two runs in the third, but Villanova's four runs in the top of the fifth gave them a one run advantage that they did not surrender. PC only managed four hits while senior Lauren Smith gave up eight hits to the Wildcats in the loss.

Providence falls to 11-15-2 overall.
