South Orange, N.J. - Seton Hall pitcher Jenn Berghoff gave up just one hit while striking out nine as the Pirates downed the Friars, 4-0, in the first game of a BIG EAST softball doubleheader in South Orange, New Jersey. Seton Hall also took the nightcap, 6-2.

Sophomore Gwyn Mangini singled in the third inning for the Friars only hit of the game as Berghoff improved her record to 14-2 on the season. PC's Robyn West took the loss giving up eight hits and four runs (two earned) to fall to 6-11 on the season.

In the second game of the twinbill, Seton Hall scored three runs in the first inning off West, making her second start of the day. Kim Jackson's two-run homer, her fourth of the year was all starter Misty Jenkins-Beaver would need as she went the distance to improve her record to 14-2. Megan Wargin took over for West on the mound in the second and finished the game. West falls to 6-12 on the year.

PC cut the lead to 3-2 in the top of the third on a two-run single by sophomore catcher Kerri Jacklets, but that was as close as the Friars would get.

Jen Rosant led all hitters with a 3-for-4 game while Vicki Lamb and Kristina Self each had two hits for the Pirates.

The loss drops PC to 10-29 overall and 1-5 in BIG EAST play while Seton Hall improves to 28-4 on the season and 6-2 in the league.

PC returns to action on Tuesday when the Friars travel to Boston College for a doubleheader at 3:00 p.m.
