PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men's and women's track teams are set to travel to Dedham, Mass., on Saturday, May 2, for the Jay Carisella Coaches Invitational. The meet is set to begin at 11:00 a.m.

Headlining the Friar women will be sophomore
Anna Gardiner (Downpatrick, Ireland) and freshman
Kate Currie (Christchurch, New Zealand), who will compete in the 3,000 meters. Gardiner won the 5,000-meter invite at the Friar Invitational in a personal-best and facility-record time of 15:51.78. The sophomore owns a personal-best time of 9:26.44 in the 3,000 meters. Currie finished third in the 5,000-meter invite at the Friar Invitational in a personal-best time of 16:00.31. The freshman owns a personal-best time of 9:24.29 in the 3,000 meters.
In the 1,500 meters, senior
Cara Laverty (Derry, Ireland) and freshman
Gemma Galvin (Clare, Ireland) will race. Both runners competed in the 1,500 meters at the Penn Relays last weekend. Laverty finished in 4:18.44 while Galvin posted a time of 4:20.74. Both were season-best times. Laverty owns a personal-best time of 4:16.72 while Galvin owns a personal-best of 4:18.39.

Jill Fenerty (Franklin, Mass.), sophomores
Keira Kelly (Scotch Plains, N.J.) and
Chloe Higgins (Morristown, N.J.) and junior
Maggie Kemper (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.), will compete in the 200 meters. The team placed fourth overall in the 4 x 400 last weekend in a program-record time of 3:44.31. Higgins owns a personal-best of 24.82 in the 200 meters, Kelly a 25.00, Fenerty a 25.14 and Kemper a 25.77.
Leading the way for the Friar men will be sophomore
Thomas Breen (Providence, R.I.) in the 800 meters. Breen won the 800-meter invite in 1:49.74 at the Friar Invitational on April 10. The sophomore owns a personal-best time of 1:48.92 in the 800 meters.
Several athletes will race in the 1,500 meters, including sophomore
Elliott Pugh (Tauranga, New Zealand), graduate student
Liam Back (New Plymouth, New Zealand), sophomore
Daniel Prescott (Christchurch, New Zealand), junior
Tyler Bartlett (Fairfield, Conn.) and freshman
Oliver Neate (Sydney, Australia). Bartlett owns the season-best time among the group after finishing 13th at the Penn Relays last weekend in a personal-best time of 3:44.34. Neate followed in 3:44.83 while Back finished in 3:45.08. Pugh has a personal-best of 3:45.70, Back a 3:43.78, Prescott a 3:46.85 and Neate a 3:44.51, which was set at Raleigh Relays to begin the season.
Junior
Jon Mignacca (Seekonk, Mass.), the BIG EAST Indoor high jump champion, will compete in the high jump. Mignacca owns a season-best mark of 1.92 meters and a career-best of 2.05 meters.
