PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College guard
Sabou Gueye (Dakar, Senegal) was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll for the second-straight week on Monday, Nov. 24. Last week, she scored 20-plus points in back-to-back games as the Friars earned victories over Northeastern (50-45) and Yale (75-64).
In Providence's two victories, Gueye averaged 21.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 3.0 steals per game. She shot a blistering 62.1-percent from the field (18-29) and 77.8-percent from the free-throw line (7-9).
In the win over Northeastern, Gueye posted 21 points on 10-16 shooting and added six boards, one block and three steals. Against Yale, she netted a career-high 22 points on 8-13 shooting and hit 6-7 free-throw attempts. She also collected five rebounds, five assists and three steals.
Gueye is the only Friar to reach double figures in the scoring column in each of the program's five games this season. She's averaging 18.2 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.2 blocked shots and 2.4 steals per game.
Providence returns to action on Monday, Nov. 24 against Middle Tennessee State in the opening game of the Emerald Coast Classic. Tip off is set for 12:00 p.m. (ET) in Niceville, Fla.
