DURHAM, N.C. – The Providence College men's lacrosse team was defeated by No. 3 Duke, 21-6, on Wednesday, March 13 in Durham, N.C. The Friars dropped to 4-4 on the year, while the Blue Devils improved to 7-1.
Richie Joseph (Longmeadow, Mass.) scored a team-best two goals for Providence.
How it Happened:
- The Blue Devils started the game with four-straight goals.
- Joseph found the back of the net on the man-advantage to give Providence its first goal of the night.
- Duke closed out the first quarter with two goals to take a 6-1 lead.
- The Blue Devils outscored the Friars, 8-0, in the second quarter to extend their lead to 14-1.
- Duke led in shots (27-10), shots on goal (20-6) and faceoffs won (13-4) at halftime
- Duke started the third quarter with a 4-1 run.

Parker Kennedy (Port Coquitlam, B.C.) scored for Providence off an assist from
Jack Horrigan (Lutherville, Md.)
- Joseph and
Rhett Chambers (Larchmont, N.Y.) scored back-to-back goals to end the third quarter.
- The Blue Devils outscored the Friars in the fourth quarter, 3-2.

Chris Simonton (Setauket, N.Y.) and
Ty Thureson (Stillwater, Minn.) each scored their first goals of the season to close out the game.
- Providence went 9-16 at the face-off X and outshot Duke, 22-14, in the second half.
- Joseph had a team-high two goals. He is the only player on Providence's roster to score in each of the Friars' eight games this season.
What's Next: The Friars host Saint Joseph's on Saturday, March 23 in their final non-conference game of the regular season. Faceoff is set for 12:00 p.m.
