Grace Efosa Named BIG EAST Player Of The Week

Efosa becomes first Friar to earn BIG EAST Player of the Week honors since 2019.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College senior guard Grace Efosa was named BIG EAST Player of the Week on Jan. 29. She becomes the first Friar to earn BIG EAST Player of the Week accolades since Jovana Nogic was recognized on Feb. 18, 2019.
 
Efosa led Providence to a 2-0 week, highlighted by a 29-point effort in the Friars' win over Villanova on Jan. 24. Efosa shot 12-of-23 from the field against the Wildcats and added four rebounds and two steals. Efosa followed with 12 points, three rebounds and three assists in Providence's win at Xavier on Jan. 27. For the week, Efosa averaged 20.5 points on 50-percent shooting, 3.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists. 
 
Providence has won three-straight games in BIG EAST Conference play, marking its first three-game win streak in league action since 2018-19. 
 
Efosa missed 11 games due to injury between November and January and has averaged 15.7 points in the six games since her return.
 
Providence College (11-11, 5-4 BIG EAST) will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 3 against Marquette. The game will be played at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I. and is scheduled to tip-off at 2:00 p.m.
