CHICAGO, Ill. – The Providence College men's and women's track teams competed on the final day of the BIG EAST Indoor Championships on Saturday, Feb. 25 at the Dr. Conrad Worrill Indoor Track and Field Facility in Chicago, Ill. The women's team finished in eighth place with 46 points, while the men's team finished seventh with 55 points.
On the women's side,
Kimberley May (Auckland, New Zealand) placed third in the mile with a personal-best time of 4:37.61.
Shannon Flockhart (Longstanton, England) followed with a fifth-place finish in a time of 4:48.18.
Alex O'Neill (Ennis, Ireland) ran the 800-meters in 2:10.56 and finished in fourth-place finish.
In the 4x800-meter relay, May, O'Neill,
Halle Atkinson (Franklin, Mass.) and
Tessa Hunt (Wellington, New Zealand) finished in second place in a time of 8:44.55.
Niamh Gowing (Dublin, Ireland),
Jill Fenerty (Franklin, Mass.),
Taylor Newman (Old Tappan, N.J.) and
Meg Hughes (Rochester, Mass.) placed sixth in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:51.10, setting an indoor record for the program.
Hughes finished the 400-meters in 57.01 for eighth place.
Nicole Borowiec (Morristown, N.J.) ran the 60-meter hurdles in 8:84 for sixth place.
On the men's side,
Angus White (New Plymouth, New Zealand) ran a 4:03.35 in the mile for a fourth-place finish.
Pat Thygesen (Brisbane, Australia) finished runner-up in the 3,000-meters with a time of 7:57.45. DJ Principe (Johnston, R.I.) paced fourth with a time of 8:00.28 and
Liam Back (New Plymouth, New Zealand) finished in eighth place in 8:05.13.
The team of Will Rainey (San Jose, Calif.),
Kyle Bloomer (Darien, Conn.),
Brett Lehman (Lower Gwynedd, Pa.) and
Josh Lewin (West Chester, Pa.) set an indoor record for the program in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:18.67.
The 4x800-meter relay team of White, Lewin,
Zane Powell (Auckland, New Zealand) and
Tim Dolan (Cinnaminson, N.J.) also set a program record with a time of 7:28.56. The team finished second overall in the event.
Lewin placed fifth in the 800-meters with a time of 1:50.45, followed by Dolan in 1:52.72 for seventh place.
