PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men's and women's hockey programs combined for a total of 32 Hockey East All-Academic Team honorees as announced by the Hockey East Association on Monday (July 18). A record total of 370 student-athletes earned All-Academic Team recognition after achieving at least a 3.0 grade-point average in each of the academic periods of the 2021-22 season.
Each program recorded 16 All-Academic Team selections.
Michael Callahan (Franklin, Mass.) and
Alex Esposito (West Haven, Conn.) of men's hockey and
Sandra Abstreiter (Freising, Germany) and
Caroline Peterson (East Falmouth, Mass.) were named Distinguished Scholars after achieving at least a 3.0 grade-point average in each semester of four varsity seasons. Women's hockey's
Hayley Lunny (Bedford, N.Y.) was recognized for a fifth time while at Providence College, while junior
Jamie Comeau (Wakefield, R.I.) was named a Top Scholar-Athlete after achieving a perfect 4.0 GPA in 2021-22.
