PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's lacrosse team battled to an 10-9 overtime victory against Hofstra University to close non-conference play on Saturday, March 26. The Friars improved to 5-4 overall in the 2022 season.
First Quarter:
- Hofstra struck first at 14:25 but
Michael Chabra responded at 11:33, 1-1, to tie things up heading into the second quarter.
Second Quarter:
- The Friars recorded the first two goals of the second quarter, from
Chris Cusolito and
Quinn McConnaughey, to grab a 3-1 lead before the Pride went on a five-goal run, 6-3.
- Cusolito recorded his second goal of the game with just 52 seconds remaining in the second to send the Friars into the half down by two, 4-6.
Third Quarter:

Ty Thureson netted the first goal of the third quarter at the 6:31 mark, his second of the season, 5-6.
- Hofstra responded with a goal, 5-7, at 4:19 before Chabra scored for the Friars with just 39 seconds remaining in the quarter, 6-7.
Fourth Quarter:
- The Pride scored twice in the final quarter but Cusolito and Chabra both found their third goals of the day, earning hat tricks to keep on Hofstra's trail.

Jack Horrigan netted the game-tying goal, 9-9, to send the teams into overtime.
OT:
- The Pride earned a penalty off of a push and Chabra found the back of the net on the man-up, 10-9, at 2:19 to lock down a Friars overtime win.
Game Notes:
-Chabra netted the overtime game-winner and led the Friars with four goals. The game was Chabra's fifth multi-point performance of the season.
-Cusolito also added four points, off of three goals and one assist. The sophomore secured his first career hat trick in the outing.

Michael Harris finished with 13 saves for the Friars. It is his fifth game of this season with at least 10 saves.
-Providence is now 5-4 overall heading into BIG EAST play.
