PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College men's lacrosse team dropped to 1-1 this season after falling to No. 20 Bryant, 19-7, on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium on Saturday (Feb. 12).
First Quarter:
• Matt Grillo (Setauket, N.Y.) got the Friars on the board just 1:05 into the game for his fourth goal of the season.
• After Bryant tied it, Evan McGreen (Narragansett, R.I.) gave Providence a 2-1 lead with his seventh tally of the year.
• The Bulldogs responded with four-consecutive goals to take a 5-2 lead.
• Sophomore Michael Chabra (Reading, Mass.) closed the gap to 5-3 with his second goal of the season.
Second Quarter:
• Bryant opened the second quarter with five-consecutive goals to take a 10-3 lead.
• Chris Cusolito (Melrose, Mass.) notched his second goal of the season to cut the deficit to 10-4.
• The teams held each other scoreless for the final 5:20 of the quarter.
Third Quarter:
• Bryant outscored the Friars by a 6-2 margin in the third quarter.
• Jack Horrigan (Lutherville, Md.) and Brendan Driscoll (Middleton, Mass.) each scored their first goals of the season.
• Ryan Bell (Port Jefferson, N.Y.) assisted on both goals in the third quarter.
Fourth Quarter:
• Goaltenders Will Collins (Marblehead, Mass.) and Matt Murakami (Lake Grove, Ill.) each saw action in the fourth quarter.
• Michael Harris (Baskin Ridge, N.J.) made 15 saves before exiting the game.
• Freshman Quinn McConnaughey (Cohasset, Mass.) scored his first of the season directly off a faceoff win.
Game Notes:
• Seven different players scored for the Friars on Saturday.
• Horrigan and McConnaughey each tallied their first collegiate goals.
• Richie Hughson (Avondale, Pa.) led the Friars with four ground balls.
