BOSTON, Mass.- The Providence College women's indoor track team raced at the John Thomas Terrier Classic, hosted by Boston University. Day one of the two-day meet was held on Friday, Jan. 28.
Shannon Flockhart (Longstanton, England),
Alex O'Neill (Ennis, Ireland) and
Halle Atkinson (Franklin, Mass.) all finished top-10 in their respective events. In the 1 mile, Flockhart placed fifth (4:36.64), ranking her fifth on the NCAA seasonal list. In the 800-meter, O'Neill finished seventh in a time of 2:06.77, placing her second all-time at Providence College behind Roisin McGettigan and ranking her 10
th on the NCAA seasonal list. Atkinson was close behind with a ninth-place finish (2:11.53).
Kimberley May (Auckland, New Zealand) also had an impressive performance, with a 12
th place finish in the 1000-meters in a time of 2:53.37.
Other Notable Performances:
Meg Hughes (Rochester, Mass.) and
Delaney Mick (Hopkinton, Mass.) placed 16
th and 40
th, respectively, in the 400 meters. Hughes finished in a time of 58.25 while Mick finished in 1:00.43.
Taylor Newman (Old Tappan, N.J.),
Emme Conan (Skaneateles, N.Y.) and
Hawa Grear (Providence, R.I.) raced for the Friars in the 200 meters. The trio finished in 65
th (26.63), 68
th (26.81) and 70
th, respectively.
The Friar men are set to race in day two of the John Thomas Terrier Classic on Sunday, Jan. 30.
