Rocha Earns BIG EAST Cross Country Male Athlete Of The Week

Graduate Student Marcelo Rocha won the Friar Invitational with a time of 24:29.64
PROVIDENCE, R.I.- Providence College graduate student All-American Marcelo Rocha (Peabody, Mass.) was named BIG EAST Male Athletes of the Week today (Sept. 14) for his performance at the Friar Invitational on Friday, Sept. 10.
Rocha won the individual title at the Friar Invitational with an 8K time of 24:29.64 at the Mark Coogan Course at Highland Park in Attleboro, Mass. Rocha led for nearly the entire race, finishing more than 30 seconds ahead of the next competitor. The Friar men placed first in the meet, registering 29 points to win, ahead of Stony Brook (34), Boston College (77) and New Hampshire (102).
The Providence College men's and women's cross-country teams will race in the Battle in Beantown in Boston, Mass. on September 24 at 3:00 p.m.
