PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College cross country sophomores
Anna Gardiner (Downpatrick, Northern Ireland) and
Cormac Dixon (Dublin, Ireland) will compete for Ireland in the U20 race at the 2025 SPAR European Cross Country Championship on Sunday, Dec. 14 in Lagoa, Portugal.

Gardiner earned sixth and All-BIG EAST in a time of 20:03.14 at the 2025 BIG EAST Cross Country Championship on Oct. 31. The sophomore followed it up by leading the Friars at the 2025 NCAA Northeast Regional Championship on Nov. 14 with a sixth-place All-Region finish to help the Friars qualify for the 2025 NCAA Cross Country Championship. Gardiner finished 123rd (20:04.6) at the 2025 NCAA Cross Country Championship in Columbia, Mo. on Nov. 22.
At the 2024 SPAR European Cross Country Championship in Antalya, Turkey, Gardiner placed 19th in the Women's U20 Race in a time of 16:54.
Dixon enters the European Championships after completing his second cross country season for the Friars. The sophomore earned an eighth-place finish at the Friar Invitational on Sept. 5 and was 21st at the BIG EAST Championship on Oct. 31 in 24:05.81. Dixon finished the 2025 season with a 50th-place finish at the 2025 NCAA Northeast Regional Championship in 30:32.6.
At the 2024 SPAR European Cross Country Championship in Antalya, Turkey, Dixon placed 35th in the Men's U20 Race in a time of 14:41.
