PRINCETON, N.J.– The Providence College men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Princeton Meadows Challenge at the Meadows Campus at Princeton University on Saturday, Sept. 26. The women's team placed third of 17 teams with 60 points and was led by junior Gabby Schmidt (Brisbane, Australia), who placed fourth overall of 182 runners in a time of 19:53.3. Providence finished in front of three nationally ranked teams including Penn State (#13), Princeton (#25) and Villanova (#29). The top five women finished in the top 30 for the Friars. The men placed 10th of 15 teams and were paced by junior
Cormac Dixon (Dublin, Ireland), who finished 37th in a time of 23:53.2.

After Schmidt, juniors
Anna Gardiner (Downpatrick, Ireland) and
Emily Bush (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) both finished in the top 20. Gardiner was 12th in 20:09.7, while Bush finished 18th in a time of 20:30.8. In her first race for Providence, graduate student
Megan Harris (Essex, England) finished 23rd in 20:38.7. Rounding out the scoring for the Friars was sophomore
Kate Currie (Christchurch, New Zealand), who completed the 6K course in 20:44.5.
In addition to Dixon, junior
Daniel Prescott (Christchurch, New Zealand) placed 50th overall (49th in scoring) in 24:04.7. Junior
Ryan LoCicero (Bloomfield, N.J.) finished 64th overall (60th in scoring) in 24:12.6, while graduate student
Jack Small (Kent, England) placed 80th (69th in scoring) in 24:27.5. Junior
Elliott Pugh (Tauranga, New Zealand) was the final scorer for the Friars, finishing 83rd overall (70th in scoring) in 24:31.5. The men's race featured 162 runners.
The Friars will return to action on Friday, October 9 at the Wisconsin Nuttycombe Invitational in Madison, Wis. and the New England Championship in Hopkinton, N.H.
