Toby Burgdorf had 15 saves on the afternoon.
Washington, D.C.- The Providence College men's lacrosse team fell to the #8/#7 Georgetown Hoyas, 14-5, on Saturday, April 24 at Cooper Field in Washington, D.C. Providence concludes the regular season 4-8 overall, 3-7 in BIG EAST play. Providence will be the fourth seed in the upcoming BIG EAST Tournament on May 6. The Hoyas improve to 10-1 overall, 9-1 in BIG EAST play.
First Quarter:
-Georgetown's tallied the first five goals of the game (5-0).
-Tim Hinrichs (Amherst, N.H.) found Ryan Nawrocki (Smithtown, N.Y.) for the first Friars goal of the game with 6:59 left in the quarter (5-1).
-Georgetown's Jake Carraway pushed the Hoyas' lead back to five with his goal with 3:08 left in the quarter (6-1).
-The Hoyas led, 6-1, after one quarter.
Second Quarter:
-Georgetown scored the three-straight goals of the quarter to push its lead to eight (9-1).
-Hinrichs found the back of the net for his first goal of the game with 1:32 left in the half (9-2).
-The Hoyas led, 9-2 at the half.
-RJ Romeo (Wilton, Conn.) went 7-12 from the 'X' in the first half.
-Toby Burgdorf (Westfield, N.J.) registered nine saves.
-Nick Shaw (Canton, Mass.) picked up four groundballs.
Third Quarter:
-The Hoyas struck first in the second half to push their lead back to eight (10-2).
-Nawrocki scored his second goal of the game with 8:37 left to play. Dan Axelson (Cohasset, Mass.) was credited with the assist (10-3).
-Georgetown's Declan McDermott scored with 5:44 remaining in the quarter (11-3).
-Graham Bundy Jr. scored for Georgetown to push the lead to nine (12-3).
-Ryan Zimmerman (Syracuse, N.Y.) scored his first goal of the game with 1:05 left in the quarter. Nawrocki was credited with the assist (12-4).
-Georgetown led, 12-4, after three quarters.
Fourth Quarter:
-Georgetown's Dylan Watson scored the first goal of the fourth quarter (13-4).
-Jake Carraway scored for Georgetown with 12:17 left in the quarter (14-4).
-Evan McGreen (Narragansett, R.I.) passed to John Hoffman (Smithtown, N.Y.) to score the fifth Providence goal of the day (14-5).
-The Hoyas defeated the Friars, 14-5.
Game Notes:
-With Marquette's 19-8 loss to Villanova today, the Friars have clinched the fourth-seed in the upcoming BIG EAST Tournament. Even if Marquette defeats St. John's in its final game of the season, Providence holds the tiebreaker over Marquette.
-Georgetown holds the all-time series advantage, 13-2.
-Nawrocki led the Friars with three points on two goals and one assist. Nawrocki now has 115 career points on 56 goals and 59 assists. Nawrocki ranks 12th all-time in Providence Lacrosse history in assists and tied-17th in Providence Career Scoring Leaders.
-Romeo went 12-21 from the 'X'.
