Providence, R.I. – The Providence College men's lacrosse team defeated the St. John's Red Storm, 19-9, on Saturday, April 10 at Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium in Providence, R.I.
Matt Grillo (Setauket, N.Y.) led the Friars with seven points on five goals and two assists. Ten different Friars scored in the victory. The Friars improve to 4-6 overall, 3-5 in BIG EAST play. The Red Storm drop to 1-6 overall, 0-6 in BIG EAST play.
First Quarter:

Ryan Zimmerman (Syracuse, N.Y.) found
John Hoffman (Smithtown, N.Y.) for the Friars' first goal 19-seconds into the game (1-0).
-Under a minute later,
Ryan Nawrocki (Smithtown, N.Y.) scored his 10th goal of the season, with 13:59 left in the quarter (2-0).
-St. John's Connor Kalmus scored the first goal for the Red Storm, with 11:02 left (2-1).
-Hoffman scored his second goal of the game at 9:46. Nawrocki was credited with the assist (3-1).

Nick Shaw (Canton, Mass.) tallied the fourth Friar goal of the quarter with 6:13 left to play (4-1).

Third Quarter:
-Zimmerman started the scoring for the Friars under a minute into the half. His goal pushed the Friars lead to five (7-2).
-Nawrocki found Hinrichs for his second goal of the evening with 12:46 remaining (8-2).
-Hoffman tallied his first hat-trick of the season with 11:18 left to play in the quarter. Zimmerman was credited with the assist (9-2).
-Grillo scored two-straight Friar goals to push the lead to nine. This marks his second hat-trick of the season (11-2).
-St. John's responded with two straight goals (11-4).
-Grillo tallied his fourth goal of the evening off of a feed from Zimmerman with 3:35 left (12-4).
-St. John's Jonathan Huber scored for the Red Storm (12-5).
-Zimmerman tallied the last goal of the quarter off of a Grillo feed for his second goal of the night (13-5).
-The Friars led 13-5 after three quarters.
