Providence, R.I.- The Providence College men's lacrosse team fell to the #8/#7 Denver Pioneers, 19-11, on March 27 at Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium in Providence, R.I. The Friars drop to 3-5 overall, 2-4 in BIG EAST play. The Pioneers improve to 7-2 overall, 5-0 in BIG EAST play.
First Quarter:
-Denver's Ethan Walker scored the opening goal of the game to put the Pioneers ahead, 1-0.

Matt Grillo (Setauket, N.Y.) tied the game for the Friars with an unassisted goal with 8:45 remaining.
-The Pioneers scored three goals to conclude the quarter. Denver led, 4-1, after the first quarter.

Toby Burgdorf (Westfield, N.J.) tallied four saves in the quarter.
Second Quarter:

Dan Axelson (Cohasset, Mass.) brought the Denver lead to two with his goal with 12:42 remaining (4-2).
-The Pioneers responded and scored three-straight goals (7-2).

Peter Pittroff (Charlotte, N.C.) tallied his first career goal in a Friars uniform with 8:48 left to play in the quarter (7-3).
-Denver scored three-straight goals to extend its lead to seven (10-3).
-Pittroff found Nawrocki for the goal with 4:30 remaining (10-4).
-The Pioneers scored two goals to end the quarter and took a 12-4 lead into halftime.
Third Quarter:
-The Pioneers scored the first four goals of the quarter to go lead, 16-4.
-Axelson scored his second goal of the game with 8:40 left in the quarter (16-5).

Ryan Zimmerman (Syracuse, N.Y.) for the goal (16-6).
-Denver led, 16-6 at the end of three quarters.
Fourth Quarter:
-Denver's Alex Simmons scored the opening goal of the quarter (17-6).
-Axelson scored his third goal of the game with 8:03 remaining (17-7).
-The Pioneers scored two straight goals to lead, 19-7.
-Providence would score the last four goals of the game.

Evan McGreen (Narragannsett, R.I.) scored his first of the game with 5:51 remaining in the quarter (19-8).

Michael Hughes (Andover, Mass.) for a Friars' goal (19-9).
-Pittroff scored his second goal of the game off of a Shaw feed with 1:52 left to play (19-10).
-Axelson tallied his fourth goal of the game with 12 seconds remaining. Nawrocki was credited with the assist (19-11).

Game Notes:
-Axelson led the Friars with four goals. This marks his third hat-trick of the season, sixth of his career.
-Pittroff chipped in with two goals and one assist in his Providence debut.
