A collection of highlights from the 2019-20 women's track season

2019-20 WOMEN'S INDOOR TRACK  

Head Coach: Ray Treacy

• Senior Abbey Wheeler qualified for the NCAA Championships on Dec. 7 after running a 15:40.67 in the 5,000-meter. Wheeler was the lone female athlete from the BIG EAST to qualify for the NCAA Championships.
 

• Junior Maria Coffin won the 3,000-meter at the Boston University Multi-Team Meet on Jan. 18 with a time of 9:35.01.
 

• Freshman Halle Atkinson won the 1,000-meter at the URI Coaches Tribute Meet on Feb. 8 with a time of 2:56.71.

Abbey Wheeler won two BIG EAST Championships in Geneva, Ohio on Mar. 1-2. Wheeler won the 3,000-meter (9:25.32) and the 5,000-meter (15:49.65). Wheeler was named Co-Most Outstanding Women Track Performer.

• Freshman Lilly Tuck finished second in the 3,000-meter at the BIG EAST Championships (9:32.78)

• Junior Maria Coffin claimed two fifth place finishes at the BIG EAST Championships in the 3,000-meter (9:34.67) and the 5,000-meter (16:36.37).

Halle Atkinson placed fourth in the 800-meters at the BIG EAST Championships (2:12.83).

• Four rookies (Tessa Hunt, Niamh Gowing, Alex O'Neill and Lilly Tuck) won the distance medley relay at the BIG EAST Championships with a time of 11:41.69.

Abbey Wheeler was named USTFCCCA Northeast Region Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year.

• At the IC4A / ECAC Championships, the Friars had three top-five finishes. Tessa Hunt placed third in the 1,000-meters (2:49.93), sophomore Bridget Mitchell finished fourth in the mile (4:50.64) and Lilly Tuck took fifth in the 3,000-meters (9:29.84).
