Friars host the Bluejays on Saturday, Feb. 8 at Noon in Providence, R.I.

FRIARS BEGIN THREE-GAME HOME STAND AT ALUMNI... Providence will host Creighton in BIG EAST regular-season action on Saturday, Feb. 8 at Alumni Hall / Mullaney Gymnasium in Providence, R.I. It marks the first of three-straight home games for the Friars.

FIVE OF LAST SEVEN REGULAR-SEASON GAMES TO BE PLAYED AT HOME... Providence will play five of its final seven regular-season games at home in Alumni Hall/Mullaney Gymnasium. The only road games left on the schedule are against Xavier and Butler on Feb. 21 and Feb. 23, respectively.

FIRST MEETING OF SEASON SERIES... Providence and Creighton met on Jan. 11, 2020 in Omaha, Neb. The Friars led by 11 with three minutes left in the third quarter (50-39), but the Bluejays scored five unanswered to close the frame and get within five heading into the fourth (52-47), and went on to take their first lead of the game since the midway point of the second quarter with 2:45 left in the game. Creighton used a 25-11 scoring advantage in the final 10 minutes to take the win. Jaylyn Agnew scored nine of her team-high 19 points for Creighton in the fourth quarter. Kaela Webb and Earlette Scott each scored 14 points for the Friars.  

ROAD WARRIORS... The Friars have played 17 of their 23 games on the road. The Friars are 5-9 in true road games and 2-1 on a neutral court to post a combined 7-10 mark away from home. The Friars have suffered losses in each of their last seven road games. Providence is 3-3 this season at Alumni Hall / Mullaney Gymnasium in Providence, R.I. 

PROVIDENCE COLLEGE VS. CREIGHTON ALL-TIME... The Friars and Bluejays have met 15 times during the history of the two women's basketball programs. Creighton leads the all-time series, 13-2.

FRIARS AND BLUEJAYS AT ALUMNI HALL... Providence and Creighton have played at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I. six times. The Bluejays have posted a 5-1 record vs. the Friars on their home court. The lone victory for Providence came on Feb. 14, 2016 (61-59).

BY THE NUMBERS... Three of the last four games between Providence and Creighton have been decided by single digits, including each of the last two. In each instance, the Bluejays came away with the victory. The lone double-digit margin during the four game stretch was a 77-63 Friar victory last season (Jan. 26, 2019) in Omaha, Neb.

BLUE DEMONS PULL AWAY LATE... On Feb. 2, the Friars fell to DePaul, 93-71, at Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Ill. Providence used an 11-1 run to get within five (56-51) with 2:09 left in the third quarter. DePaul closed the third with an 8-2 scoring advantage to take an 11-point lead into the final frame (64-53). The Blue Demons started the fourth quarter with an 11-0 run and went on to outscore the Friars 29-18 during the final 10 minutes for the decisive victory.

70 POINTS... On Feb. 2, the Friars fell to DePaul, 93-71. Providence reached the 70-point mark for the first time since Dec. 7, 2019 against Bryant (76-60). The Friars are 4-2 this season when scoring 70+ points.

KYRA SPIWAK MAKES RETURN TO COURT AFTER SITTING FOUR GAMES WITH AN INJURY... Junior guard Kyra Spiwak returned to the court last weekend for a pair of games against Marquette (Jan. 31) and DePaul (Feb. 2) after missing the previous four games with an injury. It marked her first game action since Jan. 11 vs. Creighton. She played 26 minutes against the Golden Eagles and recorded 10 points, three assists, two rebounds and one steal. She closed the weekend with 13 points against No. 11/12 DePaul. In two games, she averaged 12.0 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game. She shot a combined 8-14 from the field , including 4-9 from three-point territory. Spiwak reached double-digits in the scoring column in back-to-back games for the first time since mid-November vs. Boston College (17) and Monmouth (22).

CHANELL WILLIAMS REACHES DOUBLE FIGURES IN BACK-TO-BACK GAMES... Junior guard Chanell Williams has come off the bench to score in double figures during each of the Friars' last two games. On Jan. 31 vs. Marquette, Williams tallied 10 points, marking her first double-digit game since netting 11 points against Loyola Marymount on Dec. 20. On Feb. 2, Williams recorded a season-high 15 points against DePaul. It marked the first time this season that Williams has reached double figures in back-to-back games.

SOPHIA WIDMEYER CRACKS THE STARTING FIVE... Sophomore Sophia Widmeyer has been a member of the starting line-up in each of the Friars last two games against Marquette and DePaul. In her most recent start, Widmeyer tallied a career-high 10 points on 4-9 shooting from the field and also matched her career high in rebounding (four).

FRIARS FALL TO 7-3 WHEN THREE OR MORE PLAYERS SCORE IN DOUBLE FIGURES... Providence owns a 7-3 record this season when three or more Friars reach double-digits in the scoring column. The Friars have posted a 3-10 mark when two or fewer players reach double figures in a game. Two of the three losses when Providence has three or more players in double figures came in the last two games vs. Marquette and DePaul.  The Friars had three double-digit scorers against the Golden Eagles and four players in double figures against DePaul.

PROVIDENCE HALTS EIGHT-GAME SKID WITH WIN OVER XAVIER... Providence College snapped an eight-game winless streak with a 60-48 victory over Xavier on Jan. 26. During the eight-game skid, six of the Friars' eight losses were decided by 10 points or less.  

FRIARS IN OVERTIME GAMES UNDER JIM CROWLEY... Providence is 5-4 in overtime games under the direction of Head Coach Jim Crowley, including a 3-0 mark last season (2018-19). The Friars are 3-3 vs. BIG EAST opponents in overtime. The Friars have yet to play an overtime game during the 2019-20 campaign.

ALYSSA GEARY HAS SOLID WEEKEND VS. BUTLER AND XAVIER... Sophomore Alyssa Geary notched her first career double-double against Butler on Jan. 24. The 6-4 forward tallied 11 points and a career-high 10 rebounds in 36 minutes of action. She shot 4-6 from the field, including 2-3 from beyond the arc, and also contributed three assists, two blocked shots and one steal. Her 36 minutes of action marked a career-high. On Jan. 26 vs. Xavier, Geary tallied 14 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three blocked shots. It marked just the second time in her career that she has posted back-to-back games in double-figures [points].

DOUBLE-DIGIT REBOUNDS... Mary Baskerville (12) and Alyssa Geary (10) each recorded double-digit rebounds on Jan. 24 vs. Butler. The last time two Friars recorded double-digit rebounds in the same game dates back to the 2014-15 season. On Jan. 11, 2015, Alexis Harris (11) and Chanise Baldwin (12) achieved the feat against Seton Hall.

MARY BASKERVILLE RECORDS 10th CAREER DOUBLE-DOUBLE... Mary Baskerville notched her fourth double-double of the season and the 10th of her career against St. John's on Jan. 17. She netted 12 points and grabbed 11 rebounds against the Red Storm. It also marked the second double-double for Baskerville during BIG EAST play in 2019-20, and six of her 10 career double-doubles have been recorded during regular-season conference play overall.

BLOCK PARTY... Mary Baskerville stands atop of the BIG EAST with 1.9 blocked shots per game. In 20 games played, Baskerville has recorded 37 blocked shots. Alyssa Geary ranks fifth, with 1.5 blocked shots per game and 34 rejections overall. Sixteen of Geary's 34 blocks have come during BIG EAST regular-season action (1.6 bpg) which ranks second in the BIG EAST. Both players are approaching the top-three for blocks by a sophomore in program history. Mary Ann McCoy leads the way with 68 blocks, followed by Andrea Mangum (41) and Emily Cournoyer (39). Last season, Baskerville recorded a program record for a freshman with 53 blocked shots.

MARY BASKERVILLE AMONG NCAA CAREER LEADERS IN FIELD GOAL PERCENTAGE... Mary Baskerville ranks 24th in the nation among NCAA Division I active career leaders in field goal percentage. In 55 career games, Baskerville has hit 237-420 shot attempts (.564). This season, she is shooting 54.2-percent (96-177), which ranks third in the BIG EAST. As a rookie in 2018-19, she recorded the second-highest field-goal percentage in program history for a single-season, and set the program's all-time record for field-goal percentage by a freshman (.580, 141-243).

FRIARS RANK 31st IN THE NATION IN THREE-POINT PERCENTAGE... The Friars enter the weekend ranked 31st in the nation in three-point field goal percentage (.361). Providence has hit 142-393 attempts from beyond the arc through 23 games.

SPIWAK AND WEBB LEAD THE CHARGE FROM DEEP... Kyra Spiwak and Kaela Webb lead the Friars from beyond the arc this season, with each shooting above 40-percent. Spiwak leads the team and ranks fifth in the BIG EAST in three-point percentage (.411, 30-73), while Webb checks in at fifth place in the league (.404, 57-141).  Webb is tied for first in the BIG EAST in three-point field goals made (57) and tied for third in three-pointers made per game (2.5).

AT THE HALF... Providence has led or has been tied with its opponent at the half in 13 of its 23 games, including four of nine BIG EAST Conference games.  The Friars have posted a 7-6 record in those games.

REBOUNDING BY COMMITTEE... Through 22 games, nine different players have led the team in rebounding. Mary Baskerville has led the Friars on the boards 12 times. 

STAYING ON THE COURT... Mary Baskerville has played 20 of the Friars' 23 games this season and is averaging 20.7 minutes per game. She has played 20+ minutes in just nine games overall, including a career-high 29 minutes against Butler on Jan. 24. Despite limited minutes, she's been putting up impressive numbers. She is shooting 54-percent from the floor (96-177) and has hit double figures in the scoring column 13 times, including two 20-point games. She also leads Providence with four double-doubles and seven double-digit rebounding games. The unanimous Preseason All-BIG EAST selection leads the team in scoring (12.6 ppg), rebounding (7.8 rpg) and blocked shots (1.9 bpg).

DOMINANT THIRD QUARTER PROPELS FRIARS... The Friars entered halftime facing a seven-point deficit against Xavier on Jan. 26. (22-15). Xavier bumped its lead to eight early in the third, but Providence used a 21-3 run to turn the tables and gain a 38-28 lead. The Musketeers closed within five on three occasions during the first five minutes of the fourth quarter, but Providence out-scored Xavier 17-10 to close the game and take the win, including a 8-8 performance from the free throw line in the final 1:47 of play. Earlette Scott netted a career-high 20 points, including 17 point in the second half of play. Alyssa Geary added 14 points and eight rebounds and Kaela Webb contributed 10 points. Webb and Scott teamed up to score 17 of the Friars' final 22 points in the game.

KAELA WEBB COMES UP BIG IN THE FOURTH QUARTER AGAINST XAVIER... Sophomore Kaela Webb scored 10 of her 12 points against Xavier in the fourth quarter on Jan. 26. She played all 10 minutes in the frame, shooting 3-3 from the field (2-2, 3FGM-3FGA) and 2-2 from the charity stripe. She also added one assist and one steal in the quarter and did not commit a turnover.

FRIARS FINISH NON-CONFERENCE PLAY AT 9-3... Providence College concluded its non-conference schedule with a 9-3 record. Jim Crowley has led the Friars to at least eight wins in regular-season non-conference play during three of his four years at the helm. Last year, Providence finished the non-conference slate 8-4 and in 2016-17 the Friars also posted an 8-4 mark. Crowley's lowest win total in the non-conference action with Providence came during the 2017-18 season (7-6). 

FRIARS IMPROVE TO 14-5 UNDER JIM CROWLEY AT IN-SEASON TOURNAMENTS... Providence improved to 14-5 under Jim Crowley when competing at in-season tournaments, with a 3-2 record during the 2019-20 campaign. Providence won the 4th Annual Ocean State Tip-Off Tournament, defeating Bryant (76-32) and Rhode Island (58-51). The Friars posted a 1-2 mark  at the Lobo Invitational to close non-conference play (Dec. 18-20). Providence suffered losses to host New Mexico (86-68), Ball State (52-51) and defeated Loyola Marymount (48-45).

FRIARS WIN 2019 OCEAN STATE TIP-OFF TITLE... The Friars defeated in-state rivals Bryant (76-32) and Rhode Island (58-51) in the 4th Annual Ocean State Tip-Off Tournament held in Smithfield, R.I. on Dec. 7-8. It marked the Friars' first championship in the tournament's existence. Mary Baskerville was named Most Outstanding Player, while Earlette Scott claimed All-Tournament Team honors.

FRIARS POST LARGEST MARGIN OF VICTORY SINCE 1991... The Friars defeated Bryant, 76-32, in the opening round of the Ocean State Tip-Off Tournament on Dec. 7 in Smithfield, R.I. Providence's 44-point margin of victory is the largest since defeating Syracuse by 46 (106-60) on Feb. 20, 1991.

EARLETTE SCOTT NAMED TO BIG EAST WEEKLY HONOR ROLL... Sophomore Earlette Scott was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Jan. 27. It marked the first league honor of her career. She averaged a team-best 16.5 points per game and added 6.0 rebounds and 1.0 assist against Butler and Xavier the previous weekend. She shot 9-17 from the field (.529), including 3-7 from beyond the arc (.429). Additionally, she hit 12-16 attempts from the foul line.  In the Friars' victory over Xavier, Scott scored a career-high 20 points, including 17 points in the second half to help Providence overcome an eight-point deficit in the third quarter. She shot 4-10 from the field against the Musketeers and hit 11-13 free throws overall, including a perfect 6-6 from the stripe in the final 1:47 of play. Scott also matched her career high on the glass with eight rebounds. In the team's loss to Butler on Friday night, Scott scored 13 points on 5-7 shooting from the field and added four rebounds. 

MARY BASKERVILLE NAMED TO BIG EAST WEEKLY HONOR ROLL... Mary Baskerville was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Dec. 9. She guided the Friars to a 2-1 record last week, and also was named Most Outstanding Player at the 4th Annual Ocean State Tip-Off Tournament on Dec. 8. In three games, Baskerville averaged 16.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.3 blocked shots per game, and shot 63.3-percent from the field (19-30). In the Friars' lone loss, she tallied 19 points and nine rebounds against Yale. That game originally began on Nov. 5, before it was suspended at halftime. The Friars and Bulldogs completed the second half of play on Dec. 3 in New Haven, Conn. At the Ocean State Tip-Off in Smithfield, R.I., Baskerville tallied 14 points and four rebounds in 15 minutes of action against Bryant. She followed with 15 points and five rebounds in the championship game against Rhode Island. Baskerville scored 11 of her 15 points in a decisive fourth quarter effort, while shooting 4-4 from the field, to give Providence a 58-51 victory.

KAELA WEBB NAMED TO BIG EAST WEEKLY HONOR ROLL IN BACK-TO-BACK WEEKS... Sophomore Kaela Webb was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll in back-to-back weeks to start the season (Nov. 11 and Nov. 18). It marks her first appearances on the league's weekly honor roll, having previously been recognized among the weekly award winners as BIG EAST Freshman of the Week last season (Jan. 21). 

TOP SHOOTING PERFORMANCE OF THE SEASON CLOUDED BY LOSS... The Friars shot a season-best 58.5-percent from the field (31-53) and tied their season-best shooting performance from beyond the arc (.500, 8-16) in their loss to Yale. Despite Providence's impressive shooting, Yale held a +14 scoring advantage at the foul line. The Bulldogs converted 23-32 attempts at the charity stripe, compared to the Friars' 9-15 shooting at the line.

CROWLEY PICKS UP 300th NCAA DIVISION I HEAD COACHING VICTORY... Providence College Head Coach Jim Crowley picked up his 300th NCAA Division I victory on Nov. 9 as the Friars defeated UMass, 72-63. Crowley compiled 258 NCAA Division I wins in 16 seasons at St. Bonaventure (2000-16) and currently owns 51 wins at Providence in his fourth season with the program. 

FRIARS PICKED TO FINISH TIED FOR FIFTH IN BIG EAST PRESEASON COACHES' POLL... Providence College was picked to finish in a tie for fifth place in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll, released on Oct. 10 at Madison Square Garden as part of the league's annual media day event. 

MARY BASKERVILLE NAMED TO PRESEASON ALL-BIG EAST TEAM AS ONE OF FOUR UNANIMOUS SELECTIONS... Sophomore Mary Baskerville was a unanimous selection to the 2019-20 Preseason All-BIG EAST Team, announced at the league's annual media day at Madison Square Garden on Oct. 10. She earned BIG EAST Freshman of the Year accolades at the conclusion of the 2018-19 season, in addition to a unanimous selection to the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team. She is just the second player in program history to earn BIG EAST Freshman of the Year recognition, and first since Friar great Tracy Lis '92 was named BIG EAST Rookie of the Year in 1989. Baskerville also was a five-time BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, marking the most freshman of the week honors in program history.  As a rookie, Baskerville averaged 9.5 points per game and led the Friars in rebounding (7.3 rpg), blocked shots (1.5 bpg), double-doubles (six) and field-goal percentage (.580, 141-243). She established program records for blocked shots (53) and field-goal percentage (.580) for a freshman. Additionally, her .580 field-goal percentage was the second-highest for a single-season in program history overall, trailing Elizabeth Lawlor's shooting clip of .581 (193-332) during the 1988-89 season.

MOST WINS IN BIG EAST PLAY SINCE 1996-97... The Friars completed the 2018-19 regular-season schedule with an 8-10 mark in the BIG EAST Conference and finished in tie for sixth place in the league standings.  The Friars' eight wins were the most in conference play since 1996-97, when Providence also finished with an 8-10 mark.  It marked just the fourth time in the last 20 years that the Friars have recorded six or more victories in league play. 

FRIARS COMING OFF OF FIRST POST-SEASON APPEARANCE SINCE 2010... The Friars' 2019 WNIT selection marked the program's 15th post-season appearance overall and first since 2010.  Complete post-season breakdown below (records in parentheses).

On Friday, Feb. 14, Providence will host its 13th Annual Project Providence event and welcomes Seton Hall for an 11:30 a.m. tip-off. On Sunday, Feb. 16, St. John's comes to town for a 1:00 p.m. game. Both match-ups will be broadcast on the BIG EAST Digital Network (BEDN).
