PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College men's and women's indoor track teams will travel to Boston University on Saturday, Jan. 18
th for their first meet of the season. The Boston University Multi-Team Meet will take place at the Boston University Track and Tennis Center. The Friars will compete against Boston College, Harvard, University of Limerick (Ireland), UMass Lowell, Northeastern, Sacred Heart and Boston University.
Leading the charge for the Friar women will be two-time All-American
Abbey Wheeler (Elmira, N.Y.),
Maria Coffin (Annapolis, Md.) and
Lilly Tuck (Sunderland, Ontario). Prior to the semester break, Wheeler ran 15:40.67 in the 5,000 meters. Wheeler's time ranks fourth all-time in Providence Indoor Track history for the 5,000-meter run. Coffin will be racing in the 3,000-meter race. Coffin is looking to improve upon a personal-best (9:51.42), which was set at the Boston University Valentine Invitational on February 9, 2018. Tuck will be competing in the mile and will look to carry the momentum coming off of a All-BIG EAST and All-Region cross-country season.
On the men's side,
Marcelo Rocha (Peabody, Mass.),
Ryan Gallagher (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.),
Michael O'Leary (St. James, N.Y.) and
Nick Carleo (Newburyport, Mass.) will lead the Friars. Rocha will be competing in the 5,000-meter race, where he finished fifth last season in the BIG EAST Championships (14:29.90) on Feb. 22-23. Gallagher is competing in the 5,000-meter race and O'Leary will race in the 3,000-meter event. Carleo will line up in the 1,000 meter run.
