PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Providence College men's and women's track teams competed at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pa., on Thursday, April 23. Sophomore
Elliott Pugh (Tauranga, New Zealand) won his heat in the 5,000 meters and finished 16th overall in a personal-best time of 13:54.31.

On the women's side, senior
Cara Laverty (Derry, Ireland), freshman
Gemma Galvin (Clare, Ireland) and sophomore
Annie Mann (Hampshire, England) ran in the 1,500 meters. Laverty finished 22nd overall in 4:18.44, followed by Galvin, who placed 30th (4:20.74) and Mann, who finished 39th (4:26.00). All three times were season bests.
Senior
Jane Buckley (Cork, Ireland) competed in the 5,000 meters in a time of 16:15.23 and finished 19th overall.
For the men's team, junior
Tyler Bartlett (Fairfield, Conn.), freshman
Oliver Neate (Sydney, Australia) and graduate student
Liam Back (New Plymouth, New Zealand) competed in the 1,500 meters. Bartlett finished 13th overall in a personal-best time of 3:44.34. Neate followed in 15th place (3:44.83), while Back placed 16th in 3:45.08.
Rounding out the first day were sophomores
Elliott Pugh (Tauranga, New Zealand) and
Daniel Prescott (Christchurch, New Zealand), who competed in the 5,000 meters. Pugh won his heat and placed 16th overall in 13:54.31, while Prescott placed 21st overall in a time of 14:00.80. Both runners set personal-best times.
