Sara Hjalmarsson Set To Compete For Team Sweden At IIHF World Championship

Games will be played from April 4-14 in Espoo, Finland.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College women's ice hockey freshman Sara Hjalmarsson (Bankeryd, Sweden) has been named to Sweden's National Team roster for the 2019 IIHF Ice Hockey Women's World Championship. The tournament, which features 10 nations, will run from April 4-14 in Espoo, Finland.

Hjalmarsson was named to the Hockey East All-Rookie team after posting 23 points in her first season. The forward played 35 games, tallying 11 goals and 12 assists. She ranked third on the team in both points and goals. Additionally, she recorded 74 shots and finished +9. Hjalmarsson was on the roster for Sweden for the 2018 Olympics, 2018 Four Nations Cup and the 2017 IIHF Women's World Championship.

Sweden will compete in Group B with Japan, Germany, France and Czech Republic. After a single round-robin series, three teams from Group B will advance to the playoff round. Sweden's first game is on April 4 against Germany.
