STORRS, Conn. (AP) - Rashidat Sadiq scored a career-high 16 points and Charde Houston added 12 to lead No. 15 Connecticut to an easy 83-33 win over Providence on Tuesday.

Sadiq and Houston, both reserves, led a UConn bench that scored 51 points. The Huskies (8-3, 2-0 Big East) broke out of their shooting slump with a 55-percent performance, making 34-of-62 from the field.

Connecticut nearly scored at will against the overmatched Friars (1-12, 0-2), who were led by Shauna Snyder with 12.

UConn, after a loss at home to Michigan State between easy wins over George Mason and St. John's, dropped four places to 15th in Monday's poll. It marked the lowest ranking for the five-time national champions since they were 15th on Dec. 7, 1993.

Despite their best shooting performance since their opener, a 107-40 win over Buffalo, the defending champs showed they have room for improvement. Coach Geno Auriemma pulled his starters less than 2 minutes into the second half after they failed to score and struggled to run their offense.

None of the first-teamers finished in double-figures, but the reserves made sure the game was never in doubt after leading 41-18 at halftime.

Reserve freshman guard Ketia Swanier finished with a career-high 10 points and had seven assists, three steals and no turnovers. The Huskies finished with a season-low five turnovers. They also had 10 blocks, 11 steals and held the Friars to 25-percent shooting (12-for-49).

UConn can expect a much stiffer test next time out. Archrival Tennessee (9-3) visits the Hartford Civic Center on Saturday. With the Lady Vols ranked No. 10, it's the first time in the 10-year rivalry that neither team has been in the top four.
