The Providence men's lacrosse team was defeated 15-8 by Manhattan College on Saturday, April 14. The Friars led 4-2 early in the game before Manhattan took control, by scoring eight-straight goals to take a 10-4 lead.
Providence entered the contest riding a four-game winning streak, and fall to 5-6 overall (3-3 MAAC). Skip Dunphy led the Friars with four goals and one assist. Kyle Ojakian registered five assists on the day, and moves his season-assist total to 24. Ojakian needs four more assists to tie Jack Crowley's season-assist record (38), set in 1988.
Chris Houston scored two goals and added one assist for Providence, followed by Kevin Kornobis and David Kole, who tallied one goal each.
John Farley played all 60 minutes in goal and made 11 saves. Manhattan College goaltender, James Amandola made nine stops in the net.
Providence (5-6, 3-3 MAAC)will travel to Marist for another MAAC showdown on Saturday, April 21, at 2:00 p.m.
