PROVIDENCE, RI - The Friars fell to the Lady Bears of Southwest Missouri State, 74-55 before 302 fans in Alumni Hall on Saturday afternoon in Providence.
At the half, the Lady Bears took a 29-23 advantage, even though their leading scorer guard Jackie Stiles who was averaging 33.8 points per game was held to no points in the first 20 minutes. The Friars wouldn't get any closer as the Bears turned it up a notch in the second half and took command of the lead.
The Friars were led by freshman Chrissy Vozab (Amenia, NY) who tallied 14 points (5-11 fg, 2-3, 3 pters) and dished out four assists. Sophomore center Monika Roberts (Antioch, CA) earned her first career double double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
SMS was led by Roshonda Reed with 24 points. Stiles finished the game with nine points - her lowest total of the season.
Providence falls to 1-5 overall and will travel to #10 Rutgers on Wednesday. Southwest Missouri State improves to 5-2.
