PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College graduate student goaltender
Hope Walinski (Lincoln, R.I.) was named Army ROTC Defender of the Week on Monday, Feb. 2, marking her first recognition of the season.
Walinski finished the weekend sweep over Vermont with a 1.50 goals-against average and a .957 save percentage. She stopped 65 of 68 shots faced over the weekend, including a 40-save performance in a 3-2 victory on Saturday, Jan. 31. It marked her second 40-plus save performance of the season.
The graduate student also appeared in her 100th career game on Saturday, ranking fifth all-time among Providence College goaltenders in games played.
Walinski has played in every game for the Friars this season and has posted a 2.97 goals-against average, a .906 save percentage and a 9-17-2 record.
UP NEXT
The Friars will return to action on Friday, Feb. 6 when they host the University of Connecticut at Schneider Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+ and TSN+.
