PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Former Providence College women's ice hockey players Sandra Abstreiter (Germany) '22, '23G, Sara Hjalmarsson (Sweden) '22, '23G and Noemi Neubauerová (Czechia) '23G have been selected to their respective national team rosters for the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, scheduled for Feb. 5–19 in Italy.

Abstreiter will be making her first Olympic appearance. Germany will compete in the Winter Games for the first time since Sochi 2014. Abstreiter led Germany during Olympic qualifying in February 2025, where the winner of the matchup between Germany and Hungary secured the final quota spot. Germany earned a 2-1 victory to clinch its first Olympic berth in 12 years, with Abstreiter stopping 23 of 24 shots. Across three qualification games, she posted a 0.67 goals against average, a .967 save percentage, 59 saves and a 3-0-0 record. Abstreiter currently plays in the PWHL for Montréal Victoire and has started two games this season.

Hjalmarsson will make her third Olympic appearance for Sweden after competing in the 2018 PyeongChang and 2022 Beijing Olympics. She helped Sweden qualify for the 2026 Games by winning Group H during Olympic qualifying last February, capped by a 5-0 victory over Denmark. In three qualification games, Hjalmarsson recorded five points on three goals and two assists. Sweden has appeared in every Winter Games since women's ice hockey was introduced at Nagano 1998. In 11 Olympic games, Hjalmarsson has totaled three points on one goal and two assists. She was selected by the Toronto Sceptres in the 2025 PWHL Draft after spending the previous two seasons in the Swedish Women's Hockey League and has appeared in 11 games for the Sceptres this season.

Neubauerová will make her second Olympic appearance for Czechia after competing at the 2022 Beijing Olympics. Czechia automatically qualified for the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. In Beijing, Neubauerová played in five games and recorded one assist. After appearing in 20 games for the Toronto Sceptres in the PWHL last season, she now plays for the EVZ Women's Team in Switzerland's PostFinance Women's League, where she has recorded 30 points (18 goals, 12 assists) in 30 games this season.

Abstreiter and Hjalmarsson will open women's ice hockey competition with a preliminary round Group B matchup on Thursday, Feb. 5 at Milano Rho Ice Hockey Arena. Neubauerová and Czechia will face the United States in Group A later that day at the same venue.
