Three Friars Named To NEILA Division 1 All-New England Team

Chabra was named to the First Team and Bell and Dennison earned Second Team accolades.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – It was announced today (May 22) that Providence College senior midfielder Michael Chabra (Reading, Mass.), junior midfielder/attack Ryan Bell (Smithtown, N.Y.) and junior defender Gregg Dennison (Acton, Mass.) each earned 2024 NEILA Division 1 All-New England Team honors.  Chabra was named to the First Team and Bell and Dennison earned Second Team accolades.
 
Chabra, who earned 2024 All-BIG EAST Second Team honors, started all 15 games for the Friars, and recorded 24 points on 20 goals and four assists. The senior ranks 14th all-time in career goals at Providence College, with 84. He scored a season-high four goals against Brown on February 24 and in the BIG EAST opener against No. 8 Georgetown (March 30). Chabra was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on February 26. Additionally, he was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST First Team, the Preseason NEILA All-New England First Team and named a Preseason All-America Honorable Mention. 
 
Bell, who was named a USA Lacrosse Magazine Honorable Mention All-American on May 9, finished the 2024 season ranked first on the team in scoring, with 66 points on 21 goals and 45 assists. He is the Providence College all-time assists leader (119), having passed Matt Pymm '99, who closed his career with 102 assists. The junior also set the single-season assist record (45) and single-season point record (66) during the Friars' final game of the season. Kyle Ojakian previously set both records with 42 assists and 63 points in 2002. Bell scored five-or-more points in eight games this season, including five games with seven-or-more. He ranked first in the BIG EAST and third in the nation in assists per game (3.00) and ranked first in the BIG EAST in points per game (4.4). He was honored by the league five times during the regular season, earning BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week three times and Weekly Honor Roll recognition, twice. Additionally, he was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year, All-BIG EAST First Team and landed a spot on the Tewaaraton Award Watch List.
 
Dennison started all 15 games this season for the Friars, recording one assist and 35 groundballs.  For his career, he has played 29 games.  He has posted 63 groundballs over three seasons at Providence.
