Two Friars Earn BIG EAST Weekly Honors For Lacrosse

Richie Joseph was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week and Ryan Bell was named to the Weekly Honor Roll.
NEW YORK, N.Y. – Providence College men's lacrosse players Richie Joseph (Longmeadow, Mass.) and Ryan Bell (Smithtown, N.Y.) earned BIG EAST Weekly Honors on Monday, April 29, following the team's BIG EAST victory over St. John's. Joseph was named Offensive Player of the Week and Bell was named to the Weekly Honor Roll.
Joseph paced the Friars' offense with a career-high eight points on three goals and a career-best five assists in the Friars win over St. John's. Joseph currently ranks first in the BIG EAST and 23rd in the nation in goals per game (2.71) and ranks fourth among all NCAA Division I players in shot percentage (.494). Joseph has recorded a team-high seven hat tricks this season. This marks the third time this season that Joseph has earned BIG EAST Weekly Honors.
Bell recorded seven points on four goals and three assists in their win over St. John's. He is the Providence College all-time assists leader, with 116, passing Matt Pymm '99, who closed his career with 102 assists. The junior leads the team with 63 points on 21 goals and 42 assists. The junior tied the Friars' single-season assist record and the single-season points record against St. John's. He currently owns 42 assists, which is tied with single-season record set by Kyle Ojakian in 2002. The junior's 63 points is also tied with the single-season record also set by Ojakian. Bell has scored five-or-more points in eight games this season, including five games with seven or more. Bell currently ranks first in the BIG EAST and seventh in the nation in assists per game (3.00) and ranks first in the BIG EAST in points per game (4.5). He also has been named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team and the Tewaaraton Award Watch List.
