Men’s And Women’s Track Teams Compete At Raleigh Relays

Eight Friars set personal records.
RALEIGH, N.C. – The Providence College men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Raleigh Relays at the Paul Derr Track and Field Facility in Raleigh, N.C. Eight Friars set personal records.
Shannon Flockhart (Longstanton, England) led the Friar women with a first-place finish in the 1,500 meters in a time of 4:08.84. Flockhart's time marked a personal, meet and facility record and is ranked first in the NCAA. Following Flockhart was Kimberley May (Auckland, New Zealand) in second place with a personal record time of 4:09.22, which ranks second in the NCAA. Flockhart and May's performances should qualify them for the first round of the NCAA Championship.
Laura Mooney (Cappincur, Ireland) and Lilly Tuck (Sunderland, Canada) set personal records in the 10,000 meters of 33:00.20 and 33:18.51, respectively. Mooney and Tuck's times should qualify for the first round of the NCAA championship.
In the 800 meters, Maeve O'Neill (Cork, Ireland) led the pack with a personal record time of 2:05.78. Following O'Neill was Alex O'Neill (Ennis, Ireland) in 2:06.04, Halle Atkinson (Franklin, Mass.) in 2:11.05 and Kiera Hall (Christchurch, New Zealand) in 2:12.04. Maeve O'Neill and Alex O'Neill's times should qualify for the first round of the NCAA Championship.
Nicole Borowiec (Denville, N.J.) finished the 100-meter hurdles in a time of 14.40 and Jill Fenerty (Franklin, Mass.) ran a 57.06 in the 400 meters.
On the men's side, Abdel Laadjel (Lucan, Ireland) and Shane Coffey (Naas, Ireland) set personal records in the 10,000 meters of 28:56.34 and 29:09.80, respectively. Both should qualify for the first round of the NCAA Championship.
Patrick Thygesen (Brisbane, Australia) finished the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 8:38.69, which ranks second in the NCAA and should qualify him for the first round of the NCAA Championship.
The Friars are back in action Friday, April 12 with the Friar Invitational in Providence, R.I. at the Ray Treacy Track.
