Three Friars Earn BIG EAST Weekly Honors For Lacrosse

Ryan Bell was named Offensive Player of the Week, Rhett Chambers earned BIG EAST Freshman of the Week and Tom Fegley was named to the Weekly Honor Roll.

NEW YORK, N.Y. – Providence College men's lacrosse players Ryan Bell (Smithtown, N.Y.), Rhett Chambers (Larchmont, N.Y.) and Tom Fegley (Easton, Pa.) earned BIG EAST Weekly Honors on Monday, March 11, following the team's wins over Merrimack and Stony Brook. Bell was named Offensive Player of the Week, Chambers earned BIG EAST Freshman of the Week and Fegley was named to the Weekly Honor Roll. 
 
Bell, who earned BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, combined for 13 points in the Friars' two games this week. The junior had a career-high six assists and added two goals in Providence's 17-10 win over Merrimack. He went on to have five points on two goals and three assists in the Friars' overtime win against Stony Brook. Bell scored the game-tying goal with nine seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime. His nine assists on the week moved him into second place on the Friars' all-time career assist list, with 97. Matt Pymm '99 is the current leader with 102 all-time assists. He has a team-high 37 points on 14 goals and 23 assists through the first seven games of the season. Additionally, Bell ranks ninth among Division I players in assists per game, averaging 3.29 and ranks 14th in the nation in points per game, averaging 5.29. 
 
Chambers, who earned BIG EAST Freshman of the Week, combined for three goals and an assist in Providence's two games this week. He had a career-high two goals and added an assist in the Friars' win over Merrimack and went on to score a goal in the overtime win against Stony Brook. The freshman currently ranks sixth on the team in points, with 10 on five goals and five assists. 
 
Fegley, who was named to the Weekly Honor Roll, went 22-35 on faceoffs this past week. He had a career-high 22 faceoff wins, scored his first career goal and picked up 12 ground balls in the Friars victory over Merrimack. Fegley has gone 56-105 at the X this season.
 
WHATS NEXT: The Friars host Saint Joseph's on Saturday, March 23 in their last non-conference game of the season. Faceoff is set for 12:00 p.m.
