Michael Chabra Named USA Lacrosse Magazine All-American Honorable Mention

Chabra led the Friars with 37 goals during the 2023 season.

SPARKS, Md. – USA Lacrosse Magazine released its Division I Men's Lacrosse All-America selections today [May 9]. Providence College midfielder Michael Chabra (Reading, Mass.) was recognized as an All-America Honorable Mention.
 
Chabra finished the 2023 season ranked third on the team in scoring with 39 points on 37 goals and two assists. His 37 goals led the team and marked a career high. The junior recorded eight hat tricks and matched his career-high of five goals against St. John's on Apr. 29. He was two-time BIG EAST Midfielder of the Week this season (Feb. 5 and Apr. 29). Chabra scored in 13 of the Friars' 15 games this season, including 10 multi-goal contests. He finished the regular season ranked fifth in the BIG EAST in goals per game (2.43). In the BIG EAST Tournament Semifinal against top-seeded Georgetown (May 4), Chabra recorded three goals and earned a spot on the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team.
 
Chabra is the sixth Friar all-time to earn All-America Honors with his Honorable Mention nod from USA Lacrosse Magazine. Former Friars Michael Farley '07 and Ben Johnston '08 were USILA Division I All-American Honorable Mention selections in 2006 and 2008, respectively. Jarrod Neumann '17 was a USILA Second-Team All-America selection in 2017. Tate Boyce '19 is the only player in program history to earn All-America recognition in multiple seasons, claiming USILA Third-Team honors in 2017 and Honorable Mention accolades in 2019. Additionally, Neumann, Boyce, and Toby Burgdorf '21 received Inside Lacrosse Maverick Media All-American recognition. Boyce and Burgdorf were Honorable Mention selections in 2017 and 2020, respectively, while Neumann was named to the Third-Team in 2017.
