PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Michael Chabra (Reading, Mass.) and
Michael Hughes (Mashpee, Mass.) of the Providence College men's lacrosse team were named to the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team, as announced by the league on Saturday, May 6. The Friars fell to top-seeded Georgetown, 19-8, in a semifinal match-up on Thursday, May 4. Georgetown went on to win the 2023 BIG EAST Championship title and earned the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Chabra led the Friars offensively in Thursday's semifinal, scoring three goals. The hat trick was Chabra's 11
th of his career and eighth of the season. Chabra, who was only held off the scoresheet twice this season, started all 15 games for Providence. The junior led the team in goals this season, with 37, while adding two assists for 39 points.
Hughes, a senior defenseman for Providence, collected a team-high four ground balls in Thursday's match-up. Hughes started the last two games of the season to head into the BIG EAST Championships and played in 13 games throughout the season. The senior collected 23 ground balls and finished fifth on the team with four caused turnovers.
