NEW YORK, N.Y. – Providence College men's lacrosse players
Matt Grillo (Setauket, N.Y.) and
Ryan Bell (Smithtown, N.Y.) earned BIG EAST Weekly Honors on Monday, Apr. 3, following the team's BIG EAST opening victory over Marquette. Grillo was named Midfielder of the Week, while Bell earned Honor Roll recognition.
Grillo tallied a season-high five goals against the Golden Eagles, earning his first hat-trick of the season and 19
th of his career. Two of his goals came in the fourth quarter, including a diving goal with 3:24 remaining to give the Friars a 16-12 advantage. Now, behind only Ed Loiselle '92, Grillo ranks second all-time at Providence in career-goals, with 115.
Bell recorded a season-high five assists in the victory, four of which came in the first half. The sophomore has been a key factor to the Friar offense so far this season. He has earned a team-high 42 points on 16 goals and 26 assists.
WHAT'S NEXT… The Friars will travel to Washington D.C. to face BIG EAST foe Georgetown University on Saturday, Apr. 8. Opening face-off is set for 12:00 p.m.
