PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College women's hockey team is set to host the University of Maine in the Quarterfinal Round of the 2023 Hockey East Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 25. Puck drop is set for 3:00 p.m. at Schneider Arena.
The Friars open the tournament as the No. 3 seed in the tournament, while the Black Bears will serve as the No. 6 seed. Providence leads the all-time series against Maine, 50-14-14. This season, the teams met over three regular season games. In their first weekend matchup, the Friars defeated the Black Bears 3-0 on Nov. 18 and 5-1 on Nov. 19. The two teams tied, 4-4, in their final regular season matchup on Jan. 28. The Friars went on to win the shootout, 2-1.
The Friars are 20-22 all-time in Hockey East Tournament play. Against Maine, the Friars are 4-0 in tournament play with two quarterfinal victories and two semifinal wins.
