Colin Munro - Volunteer AssistantPROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College men's lacrosse Head Coach Bobby Benson announced today [Sept. 13] that Colin Munro will join his staff as a volunteer assistant. Munro recently completed his collegiate playing career at Georgetown, following the 2022 season.
"We are excited to welcome Colin Munro to Friartown," Benson said. "He recently graduated as a successful BIG EAST lacrosse player and he is also the son of a coach. Colin will bring us great knowledge of the game and a creative lacrosse mind. He will also be able to build strong relationships with our student-athletes to help them reach their potential academically and athletically in the BIG EAST."
Munro played five seasons of NCAA Division I lacrosse overall, including each of the last three at Georgetown (2020-22). The midfield/attackman played in 56 games for the Hoyas and registered 37 points on 23 goals and 14 assists. He played a significant role in Georgetown's man-up unit, scoring eight goals. Six of his eight man-up goals came during his final season in 2022. Munro was part of back-to-back BIG EAST Tournament titles in 2021 and 2022, enroute to participating in the NCAA Tournament. In 2022, the Hoyas posted a 15-2 overall record and a 5-0 mark in the BIG EAST. Georgetown earned the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament field.
In 2021, Munro was selected in the second round (26th overall) by the Buffalo Bandits in the National Lacrosse League Draft.
Prior to his arrival at Georgetown, Munro attended North Carolina, where he played two seasons of lacrosse for the Tar Heels. At UNC, he saw action in 10 games and recorded four points on one goal and three assists.
Scholastically, Munro attended Mountain Vista High School in Highlands Ranch, Colo., where he was coached by Jake Herman and his father, Jamie Munro. He was a two-time U.S. Lacrosse All-America selection and also was named to the Under Armour All-America Team.
Munro earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Georgetown in 2021.
