PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) announced its All-Academic Team selections today [June 21]. Six members of the Providence College lacrosse program were among the list of honorees and include seniors
Matt Grillo (Setauket, N.Y.),
Mike O'Grady (Milton, Mass.),
Matt Gould (Darien, Conn.) and Mike Harris (Basking Ridge, N.J.), along with graduate students
Evan McGreen (Narragansett, R.I.) and
Drew Edwards (South Kingstown, R.I.).
To be considered, nominees must have senior or graduate student standing, a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale. The candidate also must be an impact player for their team.
Members of the teams are nominated by head coaches in Divisions I, II and II, and are comprised of student-athletes who have excelled both in the classroom and on the field over the course of their men's lacrosse career.
Eleven schools from Division I made up the 71 All-Academic Team award winners, while 23 honorees represented seven different schools in Division II, where AIC led the way with seven student-athletes.
