PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College men's lacrosse players
Matt Grillo and
Jack Horrigan earned BIG EAST Weekly Awards on Monday, March 14. Grillo was named Attack Player of the Week for the second time this season and Horrigan was named Freshman of the Week.
Evan McGreen was featured on the Honor Roll for his second time this season.
In a 2-0 week for the Friars, Grillo powered the Providence attack with seven goals. The senior opened up the scoring in Tuesday's matchup against Sacred Heart tallying five-goals to earn his 16
th career hat trick. On Saturday, Grillo continued to find the back of the net, registering a pair of goals in a win over Vermont.
In Tuesday's matchup against Sacred Heart, Horrigan secured his second career hat trick, tying his career-high with three goals in the win. Over the weekend, he scored his eighth goal of the season in a 12-10 triumph over Vermont. He also registered a caused turnover in both outings.
McGreen capped the 2-0 week with seven points. McGreen had one goal and three assists in Providence's midweek matchup against Sacred Heart, before tallying two goals in Saturday's matchup against Vermont along with one assist. He also had a team-high six shots on goal, two ground balls and one caused turnover.
What's Next: Providence returns to action on March 19 with a road game against Fairfield University in Fairfield, Conn. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
