PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Head Coach
Chris Gabrielli announced the 2022 captains of the Providence College men's lacrosse program today (Jan. 12).
Matt Grillo '22 (Satauket, N.Y.),
Evan McGreen '21, MBA '22 (Narragansett, R.I.) and
Mike O'Grady '22 (Milton, Mass.) will lead the team in the upcoming campaign. Grillo, McGreen and O'Grady will each be serving as team captains for the second-consecutive season.
Grillo has played in 33 games. He's racked up 73 goals and 17 assists for 90 total points. Entering the season, he ranks 16
th in program history in goals. He finished first on the team last season in goals (22) and game-winning goals (two) and ranked fourth in points (25). Last season, he was named BIG EAST Attack Player of the Week, twice, (Mar. 13, Apr. 13) and was a BIG EAST All-Tournament Team selection. A two-time member of the BIG EAST All-Academic Team, he was also inducted into Providence College's Chi Alpha Sigma honor society in 2021.
McGreen has made 42 appearances in his four seasons with the program. He has 59 career points on 31 goals and 28 assists. Thirteen of those points came during the 2021 campaign, in which he played in 10 games for the Friars. McGreen is also a four-time BIG EAST All-Academic Team selection and was inducted into Providence College's Chi Alpha Sigma honor society in 2020.
O'Grady has picked up 48 groundballs and caused 16 turnovers in 32 games for the Friars. For his efforts, O'Grady was awarded the program's Steve O'Donnell Coach's Award at the conclusion of the 2021 season. The LSM was named to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team in both the 2020 and 2021 seasons and was inducted into Providence College's Chi Alpha Sigma honor society in 2021.
Providence kicks off the 2022 campaign at Holy Cross on Saturday, Feb. 5 in Worcester, Mass. at 1:00 p.m.
