Rob Stovel Selected 56th Overall In The 2020 NLL Entry Draft

Stovel is the fifth Friar in program history to be selected in the National Lacrosse League draft.

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- Providence College men's lacrosse defenseman Rob Stovel (Fergus, Ontario, Canada) was selected 56th overall by the San Diego Seals in the 2020 National Lacrosse League (NLL) Entry Draft on Sept. 17. Stovel joins Zach Rogers '14, Jarrod Neumann '17, James Barclay '18 and Jake Cook '18 as Friars previously drafted in the NLL.
 
Stovel was drafted fourth in the fourth round, and 56th overall, by the San Diego Seals. Stovel played in 34 games, appearing in the starting lineup 24 times over his career. He picked up 45 groundballs and caused 19 turnovers. Stovel was a vital part of the Friars defense in 2020 that ranked first in man down defense (0.938) and third-best scoring defense (8.00) in the nation.
