Abbey Wheeler and Maria Coffin were recognized individually as 2020 USTFCCA All-Academic selections.

NEW ORLEANS, La.- The U.S. Track & Field And Cross Country Coaches Association released its academic awards today [July 16]. The Providence College men's and women's track programs each earned 2020 USTFCCCA NCAA Division I Academic Team Awards. Two Friars also were recognized individually as USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honorees.
 
In order to be in considered, a program must have at least a 3.00 cumulative team GPA. The men's track & field program posted a 3.28 team GPA and the women's program checked in with a 3.49 team GPA.
 
Individually, senior Abbey Wheeler (Elmira, N.Y.) and junior Maria Coffin (Annapolis, Md.) each claimed USTFCCCA All-Academic Team accolades as members of the Providence College women's track & field team. Wheeler is majoring in applied physics and mathematics, respectively. Coffin is pursuing her degree in business management.
 
To qualify for USTFCCCA All-Academic honors, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have met at least one of the following athletic standards:
  • For the indoor season: must have finished the season ranked in the top 96 in any championship individual event, or in the top 48 in any championship relay event, for the most recent indoor season, certifiable by their place on the NCAA Division I descending order lists on TFRRS for Indoor Track and Field (including performances achieved outside the qualifying window during the indoor season).
