Sean Leahey (Cranford, N.J.) was selected 23
rdoverall by the Denver Outlaws in the 2020 Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft on May 4. Leahey joins Brian O'Rorke '05, Andrew Barton '14,
Jarrod Neumann '17,
James Barclay '18,
Brendan Kearns '19 and
Tate Boyce '19 as Friars previously drafted in the MLL.
Neumann (Chaos), Barclay (Chrome) and Boyce (Waterdogs) have each moved on to play in the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL). Neumann was named and All-Star and PLL Defensive Player of the Year in the league's inaugural season (2019), while Barclay was part of the Whipsnakes club that captured the PLL Championship.
Leahey was drafted fifth in the fourth round, and 23
rd overall, by the Denver Outlaws. Leahey started all six games at attack for the Friars during an abbreviated 2020 season. Leahey registered a team-high 13 assists, was second on the team in points (22) and ranked fourth in goals (nine). Leahey recorded hat tricks in both Ocean State Cup games this season against Bryant (Feb. 15) and Brown (Feb. 29). He also was credited with the game-winning goal, in overtime, at Brown to clinch the program's second Ocean State Cup Championship in the last three years. For his career, Leahey appeared in 36 games and registered 78 points on 52 goals and 26 assists. He notched three game-winning goals and eight man-up goals during his tenure with the Friars.
