Matt Grillo (Setauket, N.Y.) was named BIG EAST Attack Player of the Week as announced by the conference on today, Mar. 9 after his performance in the 14-8 victory over Sacred Heart. Goalie
Toby Burgdorf (Westfield, N.J.) was named to the weekly Honor Roll. This is Grillo's second BIG EAST honor of the season and Burgdorf's fourth.
Grillo tallied a career-high six goals and one assist against the Pioneers. His seven points match a career-high. Grillo picked up one groundball and had one caused turnover in the win. Grillo has recorded a hat-trick in five out of six games this season and leads Providence in goals (21) and points (25). Grillo ranks fourth in goals per game (3.50) and points per game (4.17) in the BIG EAST.
Burgdorf tied a career-high in saves (16), held a .667 save percentage and picked up one groundball in the win over Sacred Heart. Burgdorf currently ranks first in the BIG EAST in saves per game (13.50), second in save percentage (0.628) and second in goals against average (7.94).
The Friars return to action on Saturday, Mar. 14 against the Hofstra Pride. Face-off is set for 1:00 p.m. at Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium in Providence, R.I.
