NEW YORK, N.Y.- Providence College men's lacrosse goalie
Toby Burgdorf (Westfield, N.J.) was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week as announced by the conference on today, Mar. 4 after his performance in the 13-12 overtime win over Brown on Feb. 29. This is the third time this season that Burgdorf has earned the honor.
Burgdorf has started his career 4-1 in net for the Friars this season. He registered a career-high 16 saves and picked up a groundball in the Ocean State Cup overtime victory over Brown. Burgdorf held a .571 save percentage in the game.
Burgdorf currently ranks first in the BIG EAST in saves per game (13.00), second in save percentage (.619) and second in goals-against average (7.93). Burgdorf's save percentage puts him fifth in the NCAA and his goals-against average ranks seventh. The junior's saves per game ranks 16
th in the nation.
Up next, the Friars conclude their three-game road trip at Sacred Heart on Saturday, Mar. 7. Face-off is set for 4:00 p.m. on Campus Field in Fairfield, Conn.
