PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Lauren DeBlois (Bloomington, Minn.) of the Providence College women's hockey team was named the Hockey East Pro Ambitions Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday, Feb. 24. This marks the second consecutive week she was awarded the recognition.
DeBlois tallied two points in Providence's sweep of Holy Cross to clinch the No. 3 seed in the Hockey East Tournament. In game one on Friday night in Worcester, Mass., she was credited with the secondary assist on Providence's third goal scored by
Meaghan Rickard (Coventry, R.I.). DeBlois scored the game-winning goal the following day in Schneider Arena after putting Providence up 1-0 with 3:04 left in the opening period. The Friars went on to win with a 3-0 shutout on home ice. She now has six goals on the season alongside 16 assists for 22 points.
Providence will host the University of New Hampshire in the Hockey East Quarterfinals from Feb. 27-March 1. The quarterfinals will be a best-of-three series in Schneider Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27 and Friday, Feb. 28. If the series gets pushed to a third game, it will be played at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 1.
