PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College women's hockey alumna Genevieve Lacasse was invited on Aug. 27 to attend the BFL National Women's Team Fall Festival, set for Sept. 9-15 in Liverpool, N.S. The BFL National Women's Team Fall Festival is an annual training camp aimed at helping develop and evaluate the nation's top female players.
The Fall Festival is the first step to being selected to compete for Team Canada in the 2020 IIHF Women's World Championship. Hockey Canada has invited 47 of the nation's top female players to attend the camp. The camp will include four games; two intrasquad and two against local junior hockey clubs, along with practices and off-ice sessions.
Lacasse graduated Providence College in 2012 after setting the program record with 127 career games played. She is the all-time leader in wins (64), shutouts (20), save percentage (.933) and saves (3,482). Lacasse posted a 1.96 goals against average over her career, placing her second all-time in program history. In 2010-11, she broke her own record for saves in a season with 948, after posting 900 the year prior.
Lacasse competed for Team Canada in the 2014 and 2018 Olympic Games. Canada won gold in 2014 (Sochi) and silver in 2018 (Pyeongchang).
