PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Matt Grillo (Setauket, N.Y.) and
Colin Keating (Ridgewood, N.J.) of the Providence College men's lacrosse team were named to the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team, as announced by the league on Saturday, May 4. The Friars fell to No. 17/17 Georgetown, 13-12, in a semifinal match-up on Thursday, May 2. Georgetown went on to win the 2019 BIG EAST Championship title and earned the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Grillo led the Friars, offensively, in Thursday's semifinal, posting four points on three goals and one assist. The hat trick was Grillo's fourth of his career and marked his 10
th multi-goal game of the season. Grillo, who was only held off the scoresheet once this season, started all 15 games he appeared in. The rookie attackman notched 30 goals and 10 assists for 40 points. He ranked third on the team in points and second in goals.
Keating finished his career in an impressive fashion. He scored his first career goal five seconds into overtime to help Providence defeat Villanova in the 2019 regular-season finale (9-8 OT). He added his second career goal in the BIG EAST Semifinals against Georgetown and won 15-26 face-off attempts (.577) against the Hoyas.
Keating finished the year with two goals and two assists for four points. He led the Friars in face-off attempts (218), face-off winning percentage (.518) and ground balls (53). He ranks third in the BIG EAST in face-off percentage and seventh in ground balls per game (4.08). Keating played in 34 total games as a Friar, registering four points and 113 ground balls. He posted a 233-for-452 mark at the 'X' in his four years for a .515 win percentage.
