PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College men's lacrosse seniors
Tate Boyce (Matthews, N.C.) and
Nick Hatzipetrakos (Syosset, N.Y.) were named to the USILA Division I Senior All-Star roster on Wednesday, May 22. The senior all-star games are set for Friday, May 24 at U.S. Lacrosse Headquarters in Sparks, Md. The Divison I/II game will take place at 7:30 p.m.
Boyce departed Providence College as the most decorated player in program history. During his career with the Friars, Boyce was a four-time All-BIG EAST First-Team selection and two-time BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year. He is the only player in program history to earn All-Conference First-Team recognition each season of his four-year career. He also is the first player to earn Goalkeeper of the Year recognition in multiple seasons.
Boyce is the first player in program history to be named to the Tewaaraton Watch List and was featured among the nation's top lacrosse players on the list in back-to-back seasons (2018 and 2019). Additionally, he is one of four players in program history to earn USILA Division I All-America honors, having previously been named to the Third Team in 2017.
The goalkeeper, who also is a Finalist for the Senior CLASS Award, was signed to the Boston Cannons of the MLL on May 13.
Statistically, Boyce finished his impressive career having appeared in 64 games and logged a total of 3,782 minutes. He registered a 9.60 goals against average and a 0.545 save percentage, while holding 33 of his 64 opponents to single-digit goals. Additionally, he collected a program-record 725 saves during his career, which also ranked first among active NCAA Division I goalkeepers.
Hatzipetrakos, who was named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team in both 2017 and 2019, had an impressive offensive campaign for the Friars this season. He recorded 46 points on 39 goals and seven assists. He led the team in goals, finished tied for the team-lead in points, ranked fourth in the BIG EAST in goals per game (2.44) and led the conference in shot percentage (.424). Hatzipetrakos was only held off the scoresheet in two games this season. He posted three-or-more goals in eight games, including seven-straight hat tricks from Feb. 9 through March 19. The senior attackman was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on March 11 and April 8.
Hatzipetrakos became the 23
rd player in program history to hit 100 career points on March 24. He ended his career tied for 15
th all-time in points (117) and 10
th in all-time goals (88) at Providence College.
