Peter Badgley Named BIG EAST Defensive Player Of The Week

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Providence College men's lacrosse senior goalie Peter Badgley (Summit, N.J.) was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, April 20. In addition, junior Will Mazzone (Stony Brook, N.Y.) was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.

Last week, Badgley recorded 36 saves for the Friars in two games. He notched a career-high 21 saves in Providence's 13-9 loss versus No. 14 Brown on Tuesday, April 14. His last career-high of 20 saves was in the Friars 11-8 win versus Sacred Heart on March 7. In the Friars 13-9 loss at No. 5 Denver, Badgley made 15 saves for the Friars.

Mazzone, who was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, scored four goals in the 15-11 loss against Brown and added two against Denver on Saturday. He has registered four hat tricks so far this season, two of which came in BIG EAST regular-season play.

The Friars will conclude their regular-season schedule versus BIG EAST foe Villanova at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 25 at the Ray Treacy Track and Field in Providence, R.I. Prior to the game, Providence will honor its senior class and graduate students who will be competing in their final regular-season game with the Friars.
