PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College men's lacrosse team will play 5th-ranked Denver at 3:00 p.m. ET on Saturday, April 18 at the Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium in Denver, Colo.

SCOUTING PROVIDENCE: The Friars enter Saturday's game with an overall record of 4-8 (0-3 BIG EAST). Providence is coming off of a 15-11 loss to No. 14 Brown on Tuesday, April 14. In the matchup against the Bears junior Will Mazzone (Stony Brook, N.Y.) scored four goals. On the season Mazzone has registered four hat tricks, including two during BIG EAST regular season play. Mazzone leads the Friars in scoring with 32 points on 22 goals and 10 assists.
Senior Buck McClure (Dallas, Texas) follows Mazzone in scoring with 22 points on 12 goals and 10 assists. Senior Greg FitzMaurice (Huntington, N.Y.) ranks second on the team with 15 goals and adds four assists for 19 points.
Sophomore Colin McKendry (Cary, N.C.) has taken the majority of the face-offs this season winning 50-of-101 (.495). McKendry also has collected 30 groundballs.
Sophomore defender Jimmy Cunningham (Syracuse, N.Y.) leads providence with 39 groundballs, while freshman James Barclay (Toronto, Ontario) checks in with 27.
Senior goalie Peter Badgley (Summit, N.J.) has spent 680:49 minutes in net for the Friars and has recorded 154 saves. He currently holds an 11.37 goals against average and a .544 save percentage. Badgley registered his career-high in saves, with 21, in the Friars' game at Brown. Badgley ranks sixth in the nation among NCAA Division I players in saves per game with 12.83.
Providence currently ranks third in the nation in man-down defense (.769), behind St. Joseph's (.833) and Ohio State (.824).
SCOUTING DENVER: Denver enters Saturday's game with a 9-2 overall record (3-0 BIG EAST). The Pioneers have won all three BIG EAST matchups with a 19-7 win versus No. 14 Georgetown, a 15-4 win versus Villanova (April 3), and an 18-5 win versus St. John's.
Connor Cannizzaro is the leading scorer with 56 points on 33 goals and 23 assists. Following Cannizzaro, is Wesley Berg with 40 points on 28 goals and 12 assists.
Ryan LaPlante has spent the majority of time in net (625:06 minutes) and has registered 94 saves for a .534 save percentage.
Trevor Baptiste is the primary man for face-offs and has won 180-of-255 (.706). He also has recorded a team-best 74 ground balls.
Denver leads the all-time series versus Providence, 4-0. Last year, the Friars fell to the Pioneers, 14-6, in Providence, R.I.
WHAT'S NEXT: The Friars will conclude their regular season schedule versus BIG EAST foe, Villanova, at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 25 at the Ray Treacy Track and Field in Providence, R.I. Prior to the game, Providence will honor its senior class and graduate students who will be competing in their final regular-season game with the Friars.
